Beer #??: Hacker-Pschorr Munich Gold

Reinheitsgebot!

Time to get our German on!

I’ve got pictures of a trip to Berlin from a few years ago, but considering the beer and the style both had Munich in their name, it didn’t feel right using a picture of the wrong city. So I went with the most stereotypical German picture Google could fine. That’s better…right?

Hacker-Pschorr Munich Gold: BJCP recommended beer for style 4A Munich Helles

This is, on a personal level, a great beer for what I like. I don’t have to “suffer” through style I don’t care for much any more as I’ve learned to appreciate them for what they are, but it is nice to have a beer that I like and would readily drink again.

There is almost no nose to this beer but what can be picked out is a grainy, bready aroma; almost cracker in both lightness and blandness. It’s a brilliant gold color with an ivory head.

Biscuit and a slight toffee and it has more pronounce alcohol as it warms. Hops are barely discernible but are earthy and very faintly woody.

4/5

PS: If you’re seeing this one, it’s because I either forgot to push the schedule out or I didn’t drink a beer one day in August and this is taking that slot.
