Beer #3626: Triple C Grill Friend

I have a grill I should pull out and use more than I do. Big ol’ manly grill. My favorite grill is this one the size of a notebook we take camping. Just big enough to cook up dinner for Bo and Nelly and no one else. Just like I like most of my trips (excluding time with my folks of course).

This is an interesting beer. The smokiness is there in the aroma, but not so much in the flavor, definitely not on a rauchbeir level, but it promotes itself as an amber not a rauch. Beyond that it’s a solid, almost pedestrian amber.

Toffee, malty, biscuit are pronounced with a very faint grapefruit and hickory in the smell. Pours a clear amber with almost no head (more on that later). It is sweet and again, malty and caramel and toffee, but balanced with a bitter middle.

This is a beer I’ve had for a while and I think the thin head was due to the age. I got about 3/4 through and got some protein flakes in the glass. I guess the lesson here is that I need to drink more beer!

3.75/5

Header picture is a beagle named Elvis judging the shit out of you. Unrelated to the beer.
