Beer #3627: Against the Grain: The Brown Note

I took a practice Cicerone test tonight. I’ve not felt so dumb since organic chemistry in college. You guys tell me what dessert would pair well with a malty English Old aged in new oak barrels and why? I’ll wait…

Tonight’s beer won’t have a picture associated with it because the can is literally a drawing of a shart.

It was okay. I initially gave it a higher score in Untappd than I ended up feeling about it. It’s one of those beers that goes a bit downhill as you drink it.

Smells of caramel, toffee, and a bit earthy. Pretty standard. Very dark amber with a cream head.

Silky and not in a good way. Thin. I think maybe it’s over carbonated? Coffee, roasty, and piney.

It’s okay. Not good and not great. The beer needs to be better to overcome the packaging and it’s not.

2.5/5
