Sending beer through the internet tubes
Great beer from Tallin, Estonia (picture below from a cruise we took back in 2015). Really starts off as a typical stout, but the lingering taste of grape skin and apricot make this a wonderful beer. I'm looking forward to cellaring this beer and revisiting it in a year or so.
Going to try and structure this one a bit better than my last. Pours dark brown almost black. SRM is clearly above 40. No head retention. Smell is low in both maltiness and hops. A nice saison. Well balanced between the phenols and esters. Not a lot of herbal notes and low carbonation. A bit of doughy malt. Picture unrelated.
I'm back from vacation but picked up a cold while out of town. My tasting class, which met on Monday, was a struggle. Lots of beer while on vacation. Lots more to come. Just a quick break to recommend the book The Audacity of Hops. Clever name aside, it's been a great read and insight into the craft beer movement in its early infancy.
Here at The Edison and drinking a white whale with Bojangles. It's pretty outstanding. Bo said it is what every beer at Wicked Weed's Funkatoriun wants to be.
